What's more magical than a dinner party at a chocolate factory? On march 31st, we hosted midnight mecca, an intimate five-course dinner and cocktail pairing popup series created by Chef Tarik Abdullah, at the jcoco factory & flagship store. The evening began with a private tour of the factory led by owner and CEO Jean Thompson. GUests were serenaded by a live cellist throughout the course of the meal, and the event culminated with the official release of our latest addition to the jcoco menu, the boharat middle eastern spice bar in 60% dark chocolate. CHef Tarik's menu for the evening drew inspiration from five regions across the globe where cacao is produced, including Brazil, mexico, the ivory coast, ecuador, and Cameroon. Several dishes and beverages integrated jcoco chocolate in unique ways, from a citrusy salad grated with cayenne veracruz orange in white chocolate to a rum cocktail rimmed with black fig pistachio dark chocolate.
Chef Tarik draws inspiration from the flavors of his childhood and his travels to North Africa and the Mediterranean to formulate a spice-forward culinary point of view.
